What is the Belly Dance Guild?

The Belly Dance Guild celebrates the rich tapestry of cultures and identities that shape our art form. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to express themselves through their art and artisanship. By embracing diversity and promoting equitable opportunities, we aim to create a community that reflects the beauty and strength of all its members.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Belly Dance Guild is a membership organization for belly dance performers, artisans, musicians, photographers, teachers, students, vendors, producers, and enthusiasts in Northern California and beyond. Our mission is to create an inclusive community that promotes the expressive arts rooted in Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic and Turkish (MENAHT) culture; and ensure the continuing presence of belly dance as a vital and growing art form.


OUR GOALS

  • Expand the reach of Belly Dance to a wider audience
  • Attract fresh members and foster novel collaborations
  • Enhance the frequency of events and opportunities to maximize member benefits
  • Establish a comprehensive online resource hub (website) encompassing, though not limited to, the following components:
    • Community Event Calendar
    • Directory of Teachers and Classes
    • Member and Artist Profiles
    • Guidelines for Best Practices and Code of Conduct
    • Archive of Historical Materials and Bibliography
    • Discography and Reviews of Music / Musical Resources
    • Membership Details
    • Bylaws
  • Advocacy for Members, Allies, and the Larger Community
  • Support for Allied Organizations and Charitable Initiatives
